| 27th November 2025 | Stamford Christmas Lights Switch-On | The Stamford Christmas lights switch on Takes place in Red Lion Square from 5pm to 6.30pm on Thursday 27th November. There will be a welcome from the town crier and mayor, a poem from the town’s laureate, school choirs singing Chriustmas carols, LED glow stilt walkers, and a drum show.

| 27th–30th November 2025 | Burghley Christmas Fair | This ever popular Burghley Christmas Fair at Burghley House, Stamford, is also a must visit locarion over xmas period. It features countless craft, artisan, food and drink stalls, so if you’re looking for both a Christmas gift and mug of mulled wine, you’ve come to the right place.
In 2025 there is a new enclosed tented space with a seated area and live music, and even a festive drone show taking place each day (4pm on Thursday and Sunday and 6.20pm on Friday and Saturday). There is a real family feel with a Victorian carousel and Christmas lights. If you’re looking to have an even more memorable time there’s ‘Great Hall Afternoon Tea’ and ‘Cocktails, Canapés & Carols in the Great Hall’ options (both £49.50 per person). | 7th December 2025 | Stamford Santa Fun Run | If you’re looking to burn off your Christmas dinner in advance, have you considered a festive fun run in Burghley Park (1, 2 or 3 mile routes), while dressed as Santa? Thought not, but it sounds fun doesn’t it? The race starts at 11am on 7th December (Station Gates entrance along Barnack Road) and after run mince pies and mulled wine are available in the marquee.
The race is organised by Stamford Striders, for all fitness levels, and there’s a pre-race warm by motivator Emma Vaughan. Proceeds go to charity (Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, Mindspace Stamford, and others). Entry price for adults : £16, children (5-12): £9, and under 4s go free. | 14th December 2025 | Christmas Chapel Concert at Burghley House | A classical Christmas concert in the family Chapel at Burghley House. Performed by Cantus Choir and string quartet, directed and conducted by Alwyn Pollard. The interval bringd with it mulled wine & mince pies in the Tudor kitchen. Tickets are £30 a person.

| 16th December 2025 | Carols in the Great Hall, Burghley House | A traditional carol concert in the stunning Great Hall which runs from 7pm–8:30pm, preceded by arrival drinks in the Orangery from 6pm. The carols and Christmas tunes are performed by the Cantus Choir and orchestra and feature soloist Belinda Evans, who performs on the André Rieu world tour. Tickets £30 per person. More here. |
| Early–Mid December 2025 | St John’s Church — Christmas Tree Festival | Running for two weeks, The Lions Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church, off Red Lion Square creates a real winter wonderland feel. It sees dozens of decorated real Christmas trees, put up by local groups, businesses and charities. The Festival Runs for about two weeks and last year raised £1000+ for good causes. |
Also of note:
The George in Stamford (High Street St Martin’s ) already has Christmas lights up. Christmas trees covered in lights mark the entrances to the building, and taking a look of bobbing in is a great way to start the festivities early. Come Christmas time too it really does look and feel he part.
