The Millstone – No longer dog friendly?

I recently headed to The Millstone to have a quiet pint with my brother, and was surprised to see that dogs are no longer allowed in the pub. Stamford is a very dog friendly area, and so I was taken aback to see that the pub has gone from handing out dog treats not so long ago to now banning dogs totally from inside the pub. It may be that the rainy weather and resulting wet pooches is to blame, I really have no idea, but it’s certainly a pity that dog owners may now have to give the pub a miss when out their their fury friend.

As dog owners ourselves, my partner and I have had a couple of great nights in The Millstone, with many a stranger coming over for a chat and to fuss up our attention loving pooch. It’s a pity such experience at the Millstone may now be behind us. Perhaps allowing dogs until the early evening may have been a decent approach if it’s an issue instead caused by a crowds and dog combo? Without knowing more it’s hard to say. I’ve now updated the dog friendly pub section to reflect this change. It’s still a step up from The Stamford Post which has the Wetherspoons wide ban dog, but more ‘dog unfriendly’ than most other Stamford pubs as result of this change.
