Where to watch the World Cup in Stamford

Football fever – on account of the 2026 FIFA World Cup – has gripped the nation and of course Stamford is no exception to that. While a handful of Stamford pubs have a TV, The Danish Invader has to be the spot to go to with serious atmosphere and big screens on match day. For some recent England games several hundred people have crammed both inside and out of this Empingham Road pub to tune into the game. Feverish scenes are inevitable when England hit the back of the net. The only down side is that for some it’s a bit of a trek to get to the venue.

If you’re more centrally based, and fancy a bit of an easy pub crawl prior to the big match (especially during this current heatwave) then a noteworthy alternative has to be the Lord Burghley on Broad Street. With a traditional pub feel, multiple screens inside and a bigger one outside in the courtyard area, watching live sport here (whether the World Cup, Football generally, Rugby, Boxing etc) is definitely a decent option t00. It shows Sky Sports/TNT Sports football fixtures too.  The London Inn on St John’s Street also shows World Cup matches on their big screen and have two (£10) and four pint (£15) jug offers on at the minute, so if you find the atmosphere in one pub isn’t quite for you, there’s another option just around the corner.
