Stamford Dog Show

We’re known to be a nation of animal lovers, and a walk around Stamford or a pint in one of the dog friendly pubs or cafes certainly shows that to be the case here. The pro pooch credentials of the area run deeper than that though, and this year on Sunday 14th September 2025 from 10am – 4pm, we see the return of the Stamford Dog Show on the meadow. Also billed as ‘Stamford Dog Show & Family Fun Day’, last year saw around 1500 dog owners attend the event which features both pedigree and novelty classes as well as an under 6 months ‘Fur Baby’ category (how cute!).

Under pedigree there are classes such as Hound, Terrier, Working and Toy dog, but the real fun at the Stamford Dog Show is in the novelty classes with categories such as Cutest Puppy, Best Rescue Dog, and Golden Oldie. There’s even Waggiest Tail and Best Sausage Catcher classes!

It’s free to enter, though there is an entry fee for dogs taking part in competitions (£3 per class, or 2 for £5). As well as the chance of win a rosette for your pampered pooch, the day features exciting games for dogs (sausage catching, anyone!), canine displays, as well as food stalls, live performances and fair rides for the kids. Welland School of Dance and others are set to perform.

There’s currently a ‘draw or paint’ your favourite dog art competition in 2025 for kids wishing to show off their skills (include your name and age with your submission). You can bring your entry on the day or submit it via the email address in link above.

If you want your pooch to take part in the dog show, registration takes place at 11am (though pre-booking is advised – check the programme of events leaflet below for the timetable/ running order), with judging from a professional judge taking place from 1pm to 4pm. Proceeds from the Stamford event go to charitable causes and if previous shows are anything to go by it will be a great day out and fun for all the family.
