Everyones work situation is different, but especially post covid many find themselves still working remotely and online and that’s a situation that can come with both positives and negatives. Money-wise being able to save on office commuting costs and working at distance from a location with higher wages (say London), it can really benefit you to be able to work from home. The same of course has long since been true for the self employed too, where there can be certain tax deductions from having a home office and working remotely too. It’s not all good news though of course as there can be a distinct lack of socialising with working from home, that and often with family or home life finding quiet time – which can be all important when completing tasks or moments of inspiration and creativty – lack be hard to come by. There’s also the potential of networking opportunities within certain coworking style spaces.
One of my own personal cost effective (to extremes you could call it) lifehacks is to make Wetherspoons (The Stamford Post) work for me on occasion and turn it into my own little daily office workspace. It’s often relatively quiet in the day and with their booths, unlimited tea and coffee deal and plug points I find it’s a work hub that works for me. It may not come with bells and whistles of paid work hubs with dedicated desks and the like but it’s without a doubt cost effective hot desk alternative that allows me to get on with work, or order over a bite to eat via the app too. Other local pubs with as Paten and Co are getting in on this idea too, by introducing a work hub from Monday to Friday. It’s £12.50 for unlimited tea, coffee and dedicated wifi. 10% off your food and drink bill too. Other options include the likes of Starbucks and other local Stamford coffee shops and cafes.
